Your Birth, Your Way
After three lovely hospital births and a fabulous freestanding birth center delivery, Heather knew she still wished for her last baby, #5, to be born at home. She had long dreamed of creating a birth experience exactly the way she’d envisioned, in the comforts of her own home. No need to drive someplace in labor or stress about when it was time to go. Getting tucked into her own bed afterward for fresh newborn snuggles and a warm mug of homemade soup. And most importantly, being surrounded by all the family and friends she wanted and a birth team she’d handpicked. While many women might prefer laboring with very few people around, Heather knew she had forever desired to feel supported during birth by those she loved and wanted many special people to be present. Smiles, warm hugs, and prayers abounded. Peace and joy were palpable. Hands were held and hips were squeezed. Heather’s music and chosen words of truth spoken over her were just what she wanted. She commented that she felt so very held, even during the most mentally challenging parts.
Heather had planned to have another peaceful waterbirth, but babies sometimes have their own plans and ultimately a birth on the bathroom throne was perfect for this little one’s grand entrance. Heather and Nathan welcomed Mellie Rae, their biggest baby yet, as the completion to their beautiful family. Big sisters and brothers Maggie, Micah, Mason and Marlee were right there to help celebrate the new addition!
Special thanks to the team at Evensong Midwifery for their top notch supportive and respectful care throughout.
